Background

HISTORY OF Hospital Pasir Mas….. Hospital Pasir Mas was built in 1981 and completed in 1985. Outpatient Services was started on the 14th. September 1985. While Internal Patient Services started on the 10th. March 1986. The opening was officiated by His Royal Highness the Sultan of Kelantan Tuanku Ismail Petra Ibni Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra on May 3, 1986 with 24 Syaaban 1406 Hijrah.

The opening of the Hospital is to accommodate the needs of the residents who were previously concentrated in the Health Clinic located in Pasir Mas town. While Inpatient treatment is centered on Kota Bharu General Hospital. Hospital Pasir Mas is located in Kampung Lati 5 km. From the city of Pasir Mas on a 43.3-acre site that is the most extensive Hospital in Kelantan.

The hospital is connected with two main roads namely Jalan Pasir Mas Tanah Merah and Rantau Panjang Pasir Mas road. After 18 years Pasir Mas Hospital is still known as Lati Hospital among locals. Although it is located 5 km away. from Pasir Mas City Hospital use by the locals is very good.

The hospital has undergone major changes as in 1997 the support service was privatized and in 1998 the outpatient department was transferred to the Health Administration and in 1999 the outpatient department was moved to the Pasir Mas City Health Clinic.

Hospital Pasir Mas continues to grow in terms of the number of equipment members and services to patients. The hospital provides primary and secondary services to more than 150 000 residents in the district of Pasir Mas, comprising 50 mukims.

The hospital consists of 6 Blok Ward 2 Block Outpatient Block Dormitory and Emergency Unit X-Ray Blok / Pathology / Block Block Surgery Kitchen Block Block Integration Laundry Block House Home Visitors Visitor’s Diner Mosque and Housing Blocks. The hospital also serves 7 Health Centers 23 Health Clinics and 10 Private Clinics.

The proximity to neighboring countries has seen many foreigners get the services they provide. The hospital has been certified by MS-ISO 9002-1994 in 2002 until December 2003. Efforts are being made to obtain the MS-ISO 9000 2000 and Hospital Accreditation certification in 2004.

In 2000 the number of specialist emergency outpatients and some repeat patients continued to increase . Similarly, patients in Physiotherapy Unit and blood donation services are increasing. Blood tube performance has increased 30. This is because the Hospital runs a blood donation campaign every month in Pasir Mas town.

Laboratory test performance varies. Significant decrease was noted in the number of small surgeries in the Emergency Unit. The hospital has achieved a set of standards for the 18 QAP indicator. Whereas only 1 NIA indicator did not reach the standard of average patient stay.

The hospital has also conducted two QAP Hospital Specific Approach projects. Among the top honors is the project on the increase in Peak Flow Meter usage among Asthma patients. A total of two innovations have been created to please the daily work of the Hospital.

The hospital’s previous website is http://www.welcome.to/hospital-pasir-mas to provide information to the public but has now been converted to a new official website which uses the Ministry of Health’s domain http: // hmas. moh.gov.my.

The hospital has been used intensively for three to four days a week to cope with patients requiring surgery. The hospital has been awarded the Certificate of Success in the Kelantan State Level Website Competition category of the Government Agencies / Statutory Bodies / Institutions of Higher Education organized by the Kelantan State Government and the Ministry of Health.

Hospital Pasir Mas is not an expert hospital but offers specialist services with assistance from Kota Bharu Hospital and Universiti Sains Hospital, Kubang Kerian eight times a month.
