Background
Hospital Parit Buntar was originally a Parit Buntar Methodist School building. It was built in 1925 and later used as a hospital in 1931.
At the start of operations, the Hospital Parit Buntar has several buildings only. The building was built before the Second World War in 1925. Some buildings were demolished due to the damage caused by storm winds and the structure of the building which was old and unsafe to use. Most of these buildings have a British design.
Hospital Parit Buntar is located in Kedah and Penang. The area of this hospital area is 60,720 square feet and the building area is 28,327 square feet.
However, over the past 10 years, most of the old buildings at Hospital Parit Buntar have been upgraded to new and modern buildings. There were 12 units established in the hospital including Administration Unit, Internal Patient Unit, Emergency Unit, Diagnostic Imaging Unit, Pathology Laboratory Unit, Outpatient Department Unit, Dinner Unit, Haemodialysis Unit, Physiotherapy Unit, Specialist Visit Unit, Pharmacy Unit and Supply as well as Record Units.
Originally, Hospital Parit Buntar had 150 beds to accommodate patients from Class II Ward and Chronic Patient Ward. This is because a building (Chronic Patient Ward) has been demolished, the use of the bed used now has been reduced to 120 beds to accommodate patients from four wards namely Men’s Ward (Anggerik), Wad Wad (Dahlia), Pediatric Ward (Melor) and Maternity Ward (Roses).
Hospital Parit Buntar not only serves the residents of the Kerian District but also the surrounding areas such as Bandar Baharu and Nibong Tebal also enjoy the services provided. This is because of its position bordering the states of Kedah and Penang.

Hospital Parit Buntar is located in Kedah and Penang. The area of this hospital area is 60,720 square and the total area is 28,327 square feet. The hospital serves 141,858 residents of the Kerian District and a number of residents from the Bandar Baharu and Nibong Tebal areas.
