All Sekolah Berasrama Penuh (SBP) In Malaysia
Fully Residential School (SBP) (Fully Residential School) is a group of primary schools dedicated to students who have achieved excellent results in UPSR and PT3 (Supplier of PMR in 2014).
The purpose of setting up this type of school is to provide opportunities for bumiputera students in rural areas.
This is because at the beginning, boarding schools are only English / English boarding schools (such as Kuala Kangsar Malay College) which is limited to the children of the King and the dignitaries.
However, all boarding schools are the same and open to all Malaysians except SBP Premier, SBPI and SMAP. Roughly 90% is for bumiputera students while another 10% is for non-bumiputera students.
Admission of students to SBP
Beginning 2016, all SBPs except KISAS take Form 1 students and all SBPs have Form 1-5 students. SMAP Labuan takes Form 6 students and has Form 1-6 students.
KISAS only takes Form 4 and Form 6 students and KISAS only has Form 4-6 students.
2 SBP take a Diploma IB student. The 2 SBPs are MCKK and TKC.
Beginning 2016, the recruitment of Form 4 students is reduced to 7 SBPs only and will be terminated by 2018 (PT3 2018) to focus on Form 1 students. This does not involve KISAS.
Students applying to Form 1 can choose any SBP except KISAS.
Students applying to Form 4 can only choose KISAS, SAMURA, SESTER, ASiS, SESSION, SASER and SGS.
