Harvest Goddess Gifts: Friends of Mineral Town Guide

In Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town, the Harvest Goddess does not give gifts to the player. Instead, she is the recipient of your offerings, and the rewards you receive are her blessings, not gifts in the traditional sense. This guide explains how her favor system works, what to offer, and what you get in return.

Who Is the Harvest Goddess?

The Harvest Goddess (Kanoe in the Japanese version) is a central deity in the Harvest Moon series, and in Friends of Mineral Town she lives in a spring at the north end of the map, near the waterfall. She is the guardian of the land and its crops, and she appears when you toss offerings into her spring. Her role is to reward farmers who keep the land healthy and who honor her with gifts. She is also the one who gives you the power to use the Wonder Chest and the Teleport Stone, and she plays a part in several events, including the Starry Night festival and the New Year’s ceremony.

How the Offering System Works

To interact with the Harvest Goddess, you must toss an item into her spring. You do this by standing in front of the spring and pressing the action button while holding an item. The Goddess will then appear, thank you, and either give you a reward or tell you that she is pleased. The system is based on a hidden “Goddess Points” counter. Every offering adds points, but the amount depends on the item. Some items give more points than others, and some give none at all. The Goddess also has a separate “Friendship” meter that increases when you talk to her at festivals or when you give her gifts on her birthday (Spring 14).

When you reach certain point thresholds, the Goddess will reward you. The rewards are not gifts she hands you directly; rather, they are unlocked as she grants you new abilities or items. For example, at 100 points she gives you the Power Berry, which increases your maximum stamina. At 500 points, she gives you the Blue Feather, which is required to propose to a marriage candidate. The highest reward, at 1,000 points, is the Goddess’s Brooch, a valuable accessory that prevents your stamina from decreasing for a period of time.

Items That Earn the Most Points

Not all offerings are equal. The Goddess has preferences, and using the right items can speed up your progress. Here are the items that give the most points, based on the game’s data:

  • Lamp Grass – 100 points (but only once per day)
  • Blue Grass – 100 points (but only once per day)
  • Green Grass – 100 points (but only once per day)
  • Red Grass – 100 points (but only once per day)
  • Yellow Grass – 100 points (but only once per day)
  • Orange Grass – 100 points (but only once per day)
  • Purple Grass – 100 points (but only once per day)
  • Indigo Grass – 100 points (but only once per day)
  • Moon Drop Flower – 300 points
  • Toy Herb Flower – 300 points
  • Pink Cat Flower – 300 points
  • Blue Magic Flower – 300 points
  • Red Magic Flower – 300 points
  • Charm Blue Flower – 300 points
  • Sunflower – 300 points
  • Bellflower – 300 points
  • Princess Violet Flower – 300 points
  • Blue Rose Flower – 300 points
  • Bamboo Shoot – 100 points
  • Mushroom – 100 points
  • Matsutake Mushroom – 100 points
  • Truffle – 100 points
  • Fish (any kind) – 100 points per fish, but only the first fish of the day counts

Note that the grass items only give 100 points the first time you offer them each day. Subsequent offerings of the same grass type that day give only 1 point. So you cannot just dump a bunch of grass to rack up points quickly. The best strategy is to offer one of each grass type daily, plus a fish and a mushroom, to maximize your daily points.

Rewards and Point Thresholds

The Goddess’s rewards are given at specific point totals. Here is the full list, as confirmed by the game’s mechanics:

  • 10 points – She thanks you and gives you a small gift: a flower (either a Blue Grass or a Red Grass, depending on the day).
  • 100 points – Power Berry (increases max stamina by 10).
  • 200 points – She gives you a random item from a set list (e.g., a flower, a seed, or a cooked dish).
  • 300 points – She gives you a random item again.
  • 500 points – Blue Feather (required for marriage).
  • 600 points – She gives you a random item.
  • 700 points – She gives you a random item.
  • 800 points – She gives you a random item.
  • 900 points – She gives you a random item.
  • 1,000 points – Goddess’s Brooch (prevents stamina loss for a while).

After 1,000 points, the Goddess stops giving rewards, but she still acknowledges your offerings. The random items she gives are often valuable, such as a Power Berry (only once), a Teleport Stone (if you don’t have one), or a Blue Feather (if you haven’t gotten it yet).

Other Ways to Earn Her Favor

Aside from offerings, you can also increase your relationship with the Harvest Goddess by:

  • Talking to her at festivals – She appears at the New Year’s festival, the Starry Night festival, and the Moon Festival. Speaking to her there raises her friendship.
  • Giving her a gift on her birthday – Her birthday is Spring 14. Giving her a favorite item (like a flower or a grass) gives a big boost.
  • Using the Teleport Stone – The Teleport Stone is obtained from her at 100 points, and using it to warp to the spring does not affect points.
  • Keeping the field clean – If you leave weeds, rocks, or branches on your farm, the Goddess will occasionally scold you, and you lose points. So keep your farm tidy.

Common Misconceptions

One common misconception is that the Harvest Goddess gives gifts like a regular villager. In reality, she never hands you a gift directly; she only grants rewards at point milestones. Another misconception is that you can offer any item and get points. In fact, many items give zero points, such as weeds, stones, branches, or cooked dishes. Only specific items (listed above) give points. Also, some players think that offering the same item repeatedly will keep giving 100 points, but as noted, only the first offering of each grass type per day gives full points.

Another myth is that the Harvest Goddess can be married. In the original Friends of Mineral Town, she is not a marriage candidate. However, in the remake Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town (2020), she is still not a candidate, but the Witch Princess is. That is a different game, though.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get the Blue Feather without 500 points?

No. The Blue Feather is only given as a reward at 500 Goddess Points. There is no other way to obtain it in the game. You must reach that threshold by offering items.

What is the fastest way to get 500 points?

The fastest way is to offer one of each grass type (8 types) daily, plus a fish and a mushroom. That gives you 800 points per day (8 x 100 + 100 + 100). So you can reach 500 points in about 6-7 days. However, you need to have access to all the grass types, some of which are only found in the mine or during certain seasons.

Does offering a cooked dish give points?

No. Cooked dishes give zero points. The Goddess only accepts raw ingredients, flowers, mushrooms, and fish. So don’t waste your cooked meals.

Can I offer items to the Goddess every day?

Yes, you can offer one item per day. The Goddess will appear and thank you. You cannot offer multiple items in one day. So plan your daily offering wisely.

What happens if I offer a weed or a branch?

If you offer a weed, branch, or stone, the Goddess will get angry and you will lose 100 points. She may also scold you. So never offer junk.

Does the Harvest Goddess appear in other games?

Yes, she appears in many Harvest Moon games, but her role and rewards vary. In some games, she is a marriage candidate (e.g., Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life), but in Friends of Mineral Town she is not.
