Hospital Sungai Siput is government hospital located in Sungai Siput, Perak. The hospital located 1 km away from federal main trunk road Jalan Ipoh – Kuala Kangar.
Background
In August 1990, the Government of Malaysia had contracted construction of nucleus hospitals to Construction Company Yeoh Lay Sdn. Bhd. / John Laing International Limited. A total of 12 nucleus hospitals including Sungai Siput Hospital were constructed under the proposed contract.
Sungai Siput Hospital is located on 26.8 acres. Its location is 1Km from Bandar Sungai Siput and is adjacent to Ipoh – Kuala Kangsar main road. It was built in June 1991 and completed in December 1994. While the Outpatient Unit and the Emergency Unit began operations on the 23rd of January 1995 and were followed by other units on 16th February 1995. The construction cost was RM 37.53 Million.
The hospital has 93 beds that were opened by YB Dato ‘S.Samy Veloo where he was the Sungai Siput MP and Minister of Energy, Telecommunications and Post on 21st April 1995. Among the achievements of hospitals that could be proud of as well as getting MS ISO 9001: 2000 is also recognized by the hospital as “Baby Friendly Hospital or Baby Friendly” and “Husband Friendly”.
