Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim set up for help an individual achieve and maintain a health standard to enable him to carry out productive economic and social life

This can be achieved by providing efficient, effective and effective treatment, rehabilitation, treatment and rehabilitation services with emphasis on underprivileged groups.

Background

In 1920 the Sungai Petani Hospital was known as the “Sungai Petani Hospital” and headed by Dr. Richard Brunel Hawes of England. It is best known as the first “Medical Officer Central Kedah” (MOCK). The hospital is surrounded by rubber and forest estate areas with wild animals.

In 1942 (Japanese colonization) “Sungai Petani Soul Hospital” was transferred by the Japanese to “Bedong Group Estate” in Bedong because “Sungai Petani Hospital” was used as a Japanese Camp. After the British took over Malaya, “Sungai Petani Hospital” was transferred back to its original place and changed its name to Sungai Petani District Hospital.

The Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital was built in 2002 with a capacity of 498 beds. It commenced operations on January 4, 2007 and inaugurated by His Excellency Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah on 22 November 2007.

The hospital is located in Amanjaya Town, about 10 kilometers from Sungai Petani City Center. Now the number of beds has increased to 550 due to the rapid development and population growth of the Kuala Muda District and surrounding areas.

AMENDMENT OF HOSPITAL TIME

Effective from 1 March 2016 when visiting patients for Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital has been set as follows:

i. 12.30 pm to 2.00 pm and 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm (Sunday to Thursday)
ii. 12.00 noon to 7.30 pm (for Friday and Saturday)

1. SPEAKER CLINIC SERVICES
80% of patients will be examined by the doctor within 90 minutes.

2. EMERGENCY SERVICES
All patients will be treated for a period of time according to the tensile criteria (Triage System).

3. IN PATIENT SERVICES
a) All patients in the ward will be checked by the doctor at least once a day.
b) All patients in ward will be checked by the specialist at least once in 48 hours.

4. CLINICAL SUPPORT SERVICES
Each patient will be given information about the procedure before the investigation / treatment is carried out.

Diagnostic Imaging

Provide support services to patients from Wad, Urban Health Clinic, Health Center, Armed Forces Hospital and private clinics in Kuala Muda District. In addition to providing consultancy services, the department is also a reference center for the Kulim, Baling, Sik and Yan Hospitals. Among the services offered are:

Pathology

The Department of Pathology is responsible for carrying out various diagnostic tests and supplying blood to patients. Comprising six disciplines of laboratory services:

Rehabilitation

Divided into two Units namely Physiotherapy and Work Recovery.

  1. Physiotherapy

Provides physiotherapy services to outpatient and patient in ward referenced from various disciplines. The outpatient department is divided into gymnasium, electrotherapy, hand therapy, women’s health, hydrotherapy, phototherapy, pediatric and patient education.

For patients in the ward, physiotherapy services are provided for cases referenced by all ward disciplines. Scheduled call services are also available for the Intensive Care Unit and High Dependency Wad (HDW) on public holidays, Friday and Saturday.

2. Work Recovery

Provide rehabilitation treatment to patients referred from Specialist Clinic and other Government Hospital / Institutions. The purpose of this unit is to maximize the ability and independence of patients in daily activities (ADL), leisure activities, return patients to workplaces (return to work) and return patients into the optimal seoptimal community.

These services include the restoration of musculoskeletal, pediatric, orthopedic, medical, cardio, neurology, burns / burns, amputation, neonatal, driving, rehabilitation in the community and so on.

Hemodialysis

The Hemodialysis unit is located in the old hospital and has 12 machines to provide dialysis treatment.

Provides hemodialysis treatment services to “end stage renal disease” and acute dialysis from the ward and preparing pre-kidney transplantation to patients and donors.

All dialysis patients are checked by Nephrologist Visitor Specialist at least once every three months and from time to time by Medical Specialists if necessary.
