Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun set up for help an individual achieve and maintain a health standard to enable him to carry out productive economic and social life

This can be achieved by providing efficient, effective and effective treatment, rehabilitation, treatment and rehabilitation services with emphasis on underprivileged groups.

Background

The history of Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun begins on year 1891 as District Hospital known as Hospital Ipoh with capacity of 50 beds only. After that, the Hospital was upgraded as State Hospital on year 1942. The 8-levels main building was completed on year 1980. The other development are including Specialist Clinic Complex (year 1992) and Daily Care Complex (year 2005). On Thursday, 12th of Jun 2008, hospital’s name was changed from Hospital Ipoh to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun.

Now, this hospital is Malaysia’s Ministry of Health’s third largest hospital after Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Hospital Pulau Pinang with capacity 990 beds, 16 operation halls, 16 beds at adult intensive care unit, 8 beds at heart treatment unit, 17 beds at children intensive care unit (PICU) and 20 beds neonatal treatment unit.

This hospital provides specialist service in all specialist basic field and also sub specialist such as nephrology, medical respiratory, hematology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, and pediatric surgery. X-ray services completed with MRI CT scan equipment and mammography machine.

Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun is also functions as training hospital for medical students, trainee nurses and allied health personnel from public and private higher education institutes. This hospital also is a training hospital for graduate doctors.

For aspect of quality achievement, this hospital received award certificate MS ISO 9001 on year 2005 and hospital accreditation certificate on year 2006. This hospital also has been given the status of baby-friendly hospital since year 1996.

1. General Objective

  • Provide diagnostic services, treatment, rehabilitation and a quality and effective education health. Patients requiring treatment that not available here will be referred to the hospital with the treatment. All patients will be treated with warmth, sincerity, and respect. Patients’ dignity are upheld. All patient information will be kept confidential and will be submitted to the parties with the consent of the patient or in accordance with legal requirements. Patients are given a presentation on the proposed treatment and procedures, or alternatively, as well as the risks involved.

2. Specific Objective

  • The objectives of the unit are as follows:

a. In-patient treatment
Patients treated as inpatients will be examined by a medical officer at least once a              day.
b. Emergency treatment
Critical patients in the Emergency Department will be treated immediately.
