Hospital Kinabatangan or formerly known as Bukit Garam Health Clinic was established in 1983 at the Bukit Garam base. Subsequently, the existing Hospital Kinabatangan was built in Bukit Garam Health Clinic and started operating since 17th. July 1999 with the opening of the Emergency and Outpatient Unit.

The Internal Patient Unit operates on August 6, 1999 with the opening of the Maternity Ward and Ward. Women and Children’s Ward operates on 02 October 2001. Kinabatangan Hospital has 68 beds. The Hospital Kinabatangan Building is inaugurated by Y.A.B. Dato ‘Sri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia at that time) on 26th. February 1999 with a construction cost of 23 million.

Hospital Kinabatangan has an area of ​​approximately 34.7 acres and hospital building area covers 5.04 acres. Hospital Kinabatangan is a non-specialist district hospital (Reference Center is Duchess Of Kent Hospital, Sandakan) which takes 1 ½ hours by road.
