Background
Hospital Banting opened officially on 6 February 1975 by DYMM Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Hishamuddin Alam Shah Alhaj with a construction cost of RM 3.2 million and a total area of 10.48 hectares
According to statistics, in 1974, total patient incidence was 672 patients with a bedtime rate of 51.13% and increased to 3652 incidence with a bed rate of 70.04% for 1975
Hospital Banting continued to expand with the addition of several wards, in 1991, Ward 5 (Men’s Medical), Ward 6 (Surgery and Orthopedic) was created while in 2000, Hemodialysis Unit, Administration Block, Medical Records and Physiotherapy Unit were established. In 2005, the Geriatric Unit was created
Under the 8th Malaysia Plan project, the Intensive Care Unit Building (ICU) was completed and staff housing (Quarters) consists of 8 class D units and 16 class C units are ready for occupation by members. Overall in December 2008 Banting Hospital had 6 wards with 151 beds compared to 96 beds in 1975. In October 2009, the CCU unit was officially opened with 2 bedrooms.
